SA (Sounds Alternative) CV Punk is an offshoot of the popular Alternative Sounds and Alternative Ska not for profit label, and plans to showcase the sounds of Punk bands and acts from the CV (Coventry and Warwickshire) postcode area.

Although the majority of releases will be compilations of the bands, the label has started by issuing the third album by Coventry and Warwickshire Punk Rock Band The Del-Chronics entitled ‘Urban Playground’. The 23 track CD – which comes with an A4 zine and a badge - has been described by music journalist and curator of the Coventry Music Museum Pete Chambers as ‘something a bit special’ with ‘their Punk Rock stylee pretty much rooted in the sound of the emerging punk scene of 1976.’ And he’s right!

The Del-Chronics formed in 2009 by a group of men who found they had a common bond, in that they all suffered through issues of mental health, and wanted to do something together to support each other and to improve their personal lot in life. At the time there were several types of support mechanisms available for people like them who had these challenges although no body else had looked towards the sounds of Punk Rock to provide the therapy they all needed, and so the Del-Chronics (or rather the Chronics U.K. as they were named at the time) formed and Punk Rock was exactly the therapy they needed. Now they are a tight live punk band with a great album in ‘Urban Playground’.
